Welcome to Ms. Hemphill's Instrument Family Website!
The goal of this website is to help you to classify all of the different types of instruments and place them in their respected family. You'll also be learning about how each family's instruments produce sound and become familiar enough to identify an instruments family just by listening to it! If you ever find yourself with a question, feel free to email Ms. Hemphill at [email protected] and be sure to include your name.
Good luck!
Ms. Hemphill
Did you know that every instrument belongs to a specific instrument family?
Every instrument belongs to one of four instrument families! There are a great deal of instruments but they can all fit into one of the four categories. It's very similar to how we classify animals as either mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, etc. Each category has it's own qualifications that help us determine which instruments go where. Throughout this website we will be learning about what categorizes certain instruments in certain family groups and we'll even have the opportunity to make up our own, imaginary instruments and classify them too!
Through-out the website you will find activities that ask your to write or draw: none of these are required assignments! But please feel free to complete the activities and hand them in to Ms. Hemphill
