Ocarinas
Ocarinas are very similar to whistles and can be made out of a wide variety of materials: clay, mud, plastic, wood, metal, bone, even vegetables like broccoli! It's believed that ocarinas were made over 12,000 years ago in both the Mesoamerica area (Central America, think Mexico) and in Chinese cultures.
